Jose Chavez, Kichwa fishing guide

Jose, our most experienced fishing guide, has been living and fishing in Cuyabeno for more than 50 years, working with international anglers from all over the world. An indigenous Kichwa, he continues living in Cuyabeno with his family who share his interest and experience in sport fishing. We are extremely greatful to have his charismatic personality and immense knowledge of fish/sport fishing accompany us on all our trips!

Tomas, Head Cook

Also from Cuyabeno, Tomas is Siona in origin and lives in Cuyabeno with his family. He works for us in all operations, including head cook focusing on creative local dishes and ability to cook in mid jungle. His intelligence, hard work and locality makes him an amazing addition to our team.

About Us

Amo Tangoy, River transport/Lead canoe driver

Indigenous from the Siona community of Puerto Bolivar and currently president of the community, Amo has been a huge influence and support on the formation of Kingfisher tours. His positive attitude and passion of hunting and fishing and change for his community make him an integral part of our team.

Marco Mendoza, Ground transport, trip preparations

Marco comes from the city of Lago Agrio, where he lives with his family and transport company. He has an immense knowledge of the jungle and all things logisitics. He is well known throughout the region for his story telling and sharing of knowledge.

Emma James, Co-owner Kingfisher, manager and customer relations

Emma, wife of Diego Monteros, and a nurse from the U.S. lives in Ecuador with Diego and their 2 children. Together they have formed Kingfisher as a small family business, and continue their passion and focus on the environment and conservation.
